Pontiac Safari Automotive Locksmith

The Pontiac Safari was produced 1987–1989. It is a discontinued van or minivan, which mainly affects blank and fob availability rather than whether the work can be done — older platforms are frequently easier to key than new ones, not harder.

Across its 1987–1989 run, the Safari sits in one key generation: model years 1987–1989 predate transponder immobilizers in the US market, so a replacement there is usually a cutting job rather than a programming one. The exact model year and trim still decide the parts, so have the year ready when you call.

At 37+ years since the last Pontiac Safari was built, wear is the usual reason a key stops working rather than failure of the key itself. A cylinder that has accepted the same key for decades eventually stops aligning to it, and a key cut fresh to code often works better in that lock than the worn original it replaces.

Eligibility for the Pontiac Safari is confirmed against the exact model year and trim before a job is treated as scheduled, and proof of identity and vehicle ownership or written authorization is required before any key is originated or programmed.
