Key Fob Programming

Whether a fob can be added on site depends on the platform. Some vehicles allow an owner-side sequence with two working keys present; most built after the mid-2000s require diagnostic access. Aftermarket fobs vary in quality, and a fob that will not accept programming is more often a fob problem than a vehicle problem.

Have: vehicle year, make and model; how many working keys or fobs you currently have; whether the fob is new, used, or was bought online; the part number printed on the back of the existing fob, if you have one. Proof of identity and vehicle ownership or written authorisation is required before any key is originated or programmed.

Programming a fob means adding its identity to the list of credentials the vehicle's body control or immobiliser module will accept. A fob that was previously paired to a different vehicle usually has to be reset or, on many platforms, cannot be reused at all. A replacement fob that has never been paired is the straightforward case.

It is offered as mobile service across Hampton Roads, Tidewater, the Peninsula, Western Tidewater, the regional airports and Virginia's Eastern Shore. Whether a specific vehicle is eligible is confirmed before a job is treated as scheduled.

For eligible jobs, mobile service can be coordinated at many accessible locations when the owner or authorized party can approve service and site rules allow access.
